United Nations:
One place where the world's nations can
gather together, discuss common problems
and find shared solutions.
The United Nations is an international organization founded in 1945. Currently made up of 193 Member States, the UN and its work are guided by the purposes and principles contained in its founding Charter.
The UN has evolved over the years to keep pace with a rapidly changing world.
But one thing has stayed the same: it remains the one place on Earth where all the world’s nations can gather together, discuss common problems, and find shared solutions that benefit all of humanity.

Stream of Consciousness:
Learning from yesterday. To get a consistent picture of the the whole wall I need to stand in the centre of the opposite wall, with my back pressed against the wall.
To keep it consistent I have to stand in the same spot each time. To be in the same spot I should mark out where I am standing now. What do I have, I have tape, let me mark it with the tape.
I just boxed myself in the same place with the tape, I feel stuck. Stuck, are people of Palestine. Not stuck because they want to leave their homeland but stuck in the cycle of a system initiated by the west. And stuck confined by a perimeter. Freedom of movement inhibited by blockade, surveillance and being hunted.
As I stare at the other side of the space I wonder if what it will be like to create a diametric relationship between the two sides of this room.
I was making a timeline on the wall. I’ll use the tape on the wall to mark out the floor into two seperate spaces.
I’ll label one with a capital ‘I’ demarcating Israel, and the other ‘P’ for Palestine. Should I try and allocate the space accurately as a ratio? Too hard right now. Do later, keep moving with the concept. Whilst in “Israel” I can take the photograph from anywhere I like. I control the space I can decide.
Stream of Inquiry:
PROCESS
Listen to the audio of the UN’s youtube “Brief Animated History of the Question of Palestine”.
https://youtu.be/yBjMbe24Vu0?si=5xCuUis1ZhmNUdJZ
With tape and chalk pen I wrote down key words as heard them in an attempt to chronologically order the sequence of events moving. I did this moving from left to right against the white wall.
Re-listened to audio and repeat until I captured the narrative through the words I selected.
I underestimated the amount of space I would need so at a particular point I had to move the text further left towards the start of the wall. As I did this I started to order and group the words under dated categories.
I repeated this 19 times which was exhaustive. When reflecting on the movement of these labels I couldn’t help but make a connection between this migration across the wall and the displacement of the Palestinian people across land.

CRITS
Osvaldo: Engage with the topic from a perspective of clearly recognising my position and bias. “Universal” non existent. Stick to my own personal voice.
Annaliese: Maybe the drawing is what it is, it doesn’t need that other layer.
